FusionXInvest agenda filling up fast

Nov 22, 2023

Guest Post: Matthew Perks, Co-founder of FusionX Group and CEO of New Energy Events

COP 28 looms large on the horizon and fusion energy is stealing some of the pre-COP limelight.

Hitting this week's headlines was news that the US Special Envoy on Climate Change, John Kerry, will announce a new international framework for international cooperation on fusion at COP. In his remarks he will describe fusion, we are told, as a climate solution, not as a science experiment.

The momentum is real, then, as are the milestones. What does all of this mean for the timeframe to commercialization? How will that timeframe translate into capital flows? And is now the time for investors to introduce fusion into their portfolios?

An event dedicated to supporting the allocation of capital to the fusion industry

On February 21-22 we'll be tackling these questions at the 2nd FusionXInvest conference on the MIT campus in Boston, MA. In the only conference which gathers the fusion industry and the investor community, we've teamed up with MIT's Plasma Science & Fusion Center (PSFC) to propel fusion into the investment mainstream.

Among those confirmed to participate on the FusionX main stage on February 21 are:

  • Phil Larochelle, Partner, Breakthrough Energy Ventures
  • Greg Twinney, CEO, General Fusion
  • Warwick Matthews, CEO, Tokamak Energy
  • Sam Wurzel, Technology-to-Market Advisor, ARPA-E
  • AJ Kantor, Chief-of-Staff, Zap Energy
  • Thomas Forner, CEO, Focused Energy
  • Malcolm Handley, Founder, Strong Atomics
