3 Top Fusion News Stories
Trump Media and TAE Technologies Merge to Create the World's First Public Fusion Company
Trump Media has announced a merger with US fusion company TAE Technologies in a deal valued at more than $6bn. Shareholders of each company will own roughly 50% of the combined entity following the transaction, which is expected to close in mid-2026. The new group will house businesses including Truth Social, TAE Power Solutions and TAE Life Sciences, with Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes and TAE CEO Michl Binderbauer set to serve as co-CEOs. The companies said they plan to site and begin construction of a utility-scale fusion power plant after the deal closes, citing rising electricity demand from AI data centres as a key driver.
Japan's Helical Fusion Signs Japan's First Fusion Power Purchase Agreement and Secures $5.5mn Series A Extension
Helical Fusion has signed Japan's first power purchase agreement in fusion, agreeing to supply electricity in the 2030s to supermarket chain Aoki Super, which is also an investor. CEO Takaya Taguchi described the deal as critical in establishing that fusion does have potential end users, which will boost engagement in the sector overall.
TAE Partners with UKAEA Team to Establish Neutral Beam Company
TAE Technologies and the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) launched TAE Beam UK, a joint venture to design, develop and manufacture neutral beam systems at UKAEA's Culham Campus. UKAEA plans a $7.4m (£5.6m) equity investment. The venture targets first short-pulse beams in 18–24 months, subject to regulatory approvals.

Private Fusion Pulls Ahead in Digital Twin Development
This was our industry analysis “Graph of the Month” piece this time.
Every month, our industry experts at Fusion Advisory Services pick an interesting graph from the work that has been going on at FAS—something that gives some insight into significant trends, commercialisation considerations or fusion industry development.

This month, we analysed the impact of digital twin development on the fusion industry and discussed why more private fusion companies are developing digital twin projects than public institutions.
This matters because the developers who integrate digital twins most effectively into design and operations are likely to move fastest towards a first deployable power plant.
